What to expect during silent practice
If you've never sat in held silence, here is the shape of the days — what tends to surface, and what eases.
The first hours feel loud. The mind catches up with itself.
By the second day, a different rhythm sets in. Eating slows, walking slows.
By the third day, the inner volume drops. People often describe it as 'wide'.
Coming out of silence is its own threshold — we end gently, with a slow breakfast and only a little speech.
